When you register for courses, list the textbooks and I can see if I can find people that have them. (our previous support worker, our Instructor therapists for DS1 etc...)

you are too funny! I need to buy 2 texts and a dvd that is used for all courses (or multiple courses over the prgram). I think I will take intro to ABA and intro to ASD in Sept - will get the list of books and send it to you, ya if you can find them elsewhere either someone willing to loan out or sell that would be great! If it turns out to be a book I really want in my library I could always go out and buy it later!

I haven't taken the program, however, I did do ABA training out west years ago and did some private work with families. I also worked in a school based early education program out west working with the ABA model. It is very effective, however, we also utilized other strategies and theories with the ABA that created success in many areas. It is a very rewarding career and when you see these children make such great strides, it creates bonds that you will always carry with you.

this is why I want to do it. If you asked me back in my university days if I would ever consider working with children the answer would have been no way! Back then I saw myself working in the corporate world in some fancy office. My life changed when I had children and then considerably changed when my youngest was born with special needs. Being around so many children with different special needs I find myself totally attached to them! I love when they achieve the smallest of accomplishments and have that giant smile on their face or in their eyes! The program is 9 courses plus 2 field placements - I am already down 1 as it is a repeat of a course I did for my last program - so 8 to go and 2 field placements - really hoping I can complete in 2 years. The program is online so hopefully I can work with children while completing the program!
