    Default Painting metal buckets

I want to paint some metal buckets for DD's room. What type of paint do I need? I used acrylic that says, "for any paintable surface" but it is chipping off really really easily! Or is there something I should do a top layer with that would make it more durable?

    TIA!

There's a kind of spray paint meant for metal. It helps prevent rust too. I've used it on metal patio furniture with great success.

I've spraypainted metal stuff....I usually give it a buff first with some fine grain sandpaper just to rought up the surface a bit and help it to adhere. But there are spray-paints that are specific for metal surfaces...I used them on metal that was kept outside over the winter and the paint still looks good (I never would have expected that)

    I don't remember if I used a topcoat, but I don't think so.

i think tremclad would work well.

i bought specific patio furniture paint last year and I am pretty sure they have a metal specific paint as well.

Lol, Roots. I'm on a crazy painting and organizing frenzy! I just finished redoing 3 pieces if furniture for her room, stained a wooden highchair for the dining room, and now I want metal buckets for DD1's room to sort her craft stuff. The thing about those spray paint options, is that I have 5 very specific colours in mind. I did birdhouses fir her room a few years back, and I want the buckets to match, or atleast coordinate.

spray the buckets with the metal spray paint then use your colours overtop?

They have millions of colors. I would be surprised if they didn't have a color that would work.

I suppose I could just pick one of the colours and do all the buckets in that. I could probably find a mint green, or yellow. Better to be durable than pretty but unusable! Lol.
