Default Help from you ladies who sew please :)

I JUST learned how to use a sewing machine this past weekend. Go me! I feel a new addiction comin' on. It's really fun! Anyways, this is probably a silly question, but if I have a pillow insert (size 14" x 14") that I want to make a cover for, do I make the cover 14" x14" as well? Or do I add an inch or two?? I would prefer the cover to be tight fitting and to not be removable ..... HELP!!

    Thanks in advance!!

I'd give it at least 2- 2.5 inches to be safe. try pinning it together inside out to see what amount you can get away with sewing inside. at least with pins you have a little play room for adjustment.

You need 1/4“ seam allowance all around. Be sure to clip your corners so it will turn out nice and crisp.

With sewing better too big than too small. You can always make it smaller later if you don't like the fit.

I'd add an extra 1/2 inch plus the 1/4 inch for seam allowance or a bit more because you're a newbie.

I agree...there are so many great online sources. You will do great. There's a reason they invented seam rippers
