Default One step forward, Two step back :(

Well after months of waiting for clients to start, (as most of my clients sign up months before care is to start) tomorrow is my first day being full It has been a long time as I've had lots of part-timers and such. I have been in a super fantastic mood only to get a call from my one client who is starting here tomorrow full time with 2 kids that she lost her job. I have held this spot for 4 months and now need to fill 2 spots. I am about ready to cry I'm at a finacial breaking point, and am an emotional wreck. After taking time off to have ds with no maternity benefits my debt load is huge, and as soon as I get full something always happens. Sorry for the vent, but I'm sitting here crying and don't know what to do

Oh that is terrible! Hopefully something comes around soon for you. I know that being on maternity leave can be financially draining, I am living it right now, even with EI benefits it is a struggle to make ends meet.

well that sucks. what about advertising at your local supermarket, SDM, Rexall.. its worth a try. OR putting out a little flyer in your neighbors mailboxes.. word of mouth can get around fast.

Can i just say that I feel your pain. I was supposed to have a family start with 2 children, full-time only two have one of the parents get laid off! I am financially in trouble, and this was going to set my mind at ease. Ive been having a very hard time finding full-time children. So, like i said i'm with you, and understand what you are going through.

I know things will be fine, they always are, but this one just hit me. It wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't hold the 2 spots for 4 months only to get the call the day before they are to start.

Thanks for all the hugs ladies. I am off to put some flyers up tomorrow.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. Hopefully a LM will see your thread and will be in need of HDC. Good luck to you. I'll pray for your situation to improve. Don't lose hope! Hugs.

Oh hugs to you, this can be such a rewarding or difficult business. The day to day problems we can get through with good advice and support from friends in the business, but staying at full attendance is sometimes a constant struggle.

I got a lot of calls the first few weeks of Jan., then nothing since so I'm hoping for my upcoming empty space and for other friends who are looking that when spring comes people will start looking again.

I learned in my first year in business that holding a space for more than a month is a big mistake. Right now I have a new baby starting part-time because his Mom doesn't go back from mat leave until April, so then they will be full-time, but I won't hold one that long. This was the only way I would let them have the space.

I hope you find a new family soon. Do you have your ads up in all the usual advertising sites, daycarebear, godaycare, Childreach, kijiji?

That sucks. I've always thought you would be an awesome HDCP and would totally pick you if I needed one.
Something good will happen soon...Im sure of it!

ya know I feel the stress but from the other end...I had the last 2 providers quit with little or no notice. The first one up and left her husband and moved away..1 day notice and the last 1 told me Thursday that she battles depression and couldn't care for my kids any longer...so I interviewed potential providers today and we start with her tomorrow. I told my husband I was going to have a heart attack soon..it is really stressful.
