Default What's a dad to do?

Well I'm new, so I'll start a topic.

My wife and I have a 6mo old boy.
What do other Dads do with their baby?

I do baths, and carry him around, we look out windows, throw some toys around, sing to him, make noises that he likes, put him in his jolly jumper and compliment him and his great jumping.
But it seems he's getting used to all that and bores quicker. I'm wondering what other dads do? What are your little ones favourite games?

Sometimes mommy needs a break and I have trouble amusing him for an hour or more, let alone a few consecutive hours to let her unwind a bit.

Have you taken him to a playgroup yet? Maybe try childreach downtown for an hour or so. There is bound to be a couple of babies around 6 months on any given day.

Take him for walks, go grocery shopping, get out of the house. That helps keep him engaged and mama gets quiet time.

Check out OEYC as well as Books for Babies at the Library and Baby swim at the London Y (heated pool). That is what I did for my DS1 and DS2.

Sounds like you are doing a great job being a Dad!

Welcome to London Moms (and Dads too)

    very thoughtful too
my hubby, did most of those things and while I realize you can't do the walks outside right now...but mall time is good for keeping them occupied too...
DH always found it funny to watch the kids with the changing noises outside

I think your are doing great already! Babies don't have much of an attention span anyway so it's not you boring him/her. You could do a Books for babies or something like that. I would have loved to see a Daddy at books for babies when I took my DS.

My DH sings and does little funny dances to make DS laugh you could try that too.

My hubby loved taking our DD to the Early Year's Centers.
He also did a “daddy and me massage“ class - which was awesome for helping get out the baby's gas.
The Library's Books for Baby class was a lot of fun. My hubby didn't get to go to it, but there were tons of other Dads there.

I think that it's awesome that you are helping her out and recognizing that she needs time to unwind. I was lucky that I had that too - it was a lifesaver at times.
