Default sewing machine technical difficulties. HELP! lol

I am having some sewing machine technical difficulties.

The machine works.. but my thread keeps gathering and getting stuck.. and im getting frustrated! I have tried different stitch settings, different widths of stitch settings.. I am almost 100% positive it's threaded properly, but the stitches are either loose, or they gather. HELP!

    its a singer stylist 513

have just discovered it does this only when going backwards to lock stitch in????

Are you manually threading the needle down once or twice to 'catch' the bobbin thread? Is the tension too tight on your needle? (It's a wheel-thingy with a spring in it directly above the needle).

WHAT? Ok, so zoo got a sewing machine too ok, wanna make something out of it?? lmao!

Zoo, I download instructions to thread both bobbin and the other thread.. followed them to a T, and got the loop up and through and pulled. It WAS working.. now the damn thing has just stopped. lol

Is the needle bent? I bought a sewing machine a couple of years ago and was merrily sewing along until it stopped working - it appeared to be a tension problem (stitches too tight, etc) except nothing I did with the tension changed anything. Turned out the needle was bent - new needle, no more problems!

This has happened to me...I can't remember what I did. Either I missed a spot while threading the thread try turning the bobbin around.

all of these are great suggestions.. If the machine would work .. but now it's not even working.

Like it doesn't do anything, but make noise.

Do you have a 'stitch' selected? It's not between stitches?

I just rethreaded the machine, and when I bring the needle down to catch the bobbin thread, it hits the bottom, and won't come up???
