Tan...there are a lot of more complicated recipes with tons of steps and ingredients, but I wanted something simple, so I just used this one: Apple Butter - Recipes - Food Network Canada

So easy, and so delicious! I doubled it since I had so many apples, used golden yellow sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and a little cloves, and I also used about half the vanilla. You can flavour it however you want to!

There are even recipes for doing it in a slow cooker, but all the recipes I found were for peeled apples. I wanted the nutrition and fibre of the apple peel to be in there so I did the stovetop way

Yummy! Here's a recipe for crockpot apple butter. I've thought of trying it but haven't got around to it. A Year of Slow Cooking: CrockPot Apple Butter Recipe

Mmmm I made some Crockpot Apple Butter last week. I had previously made some plain applesauce on the stovetop for this purpose. I made applesauce with skins and all and picked out the skin when it was cooked. No sugar or spices added.

When I was ready to make the apple butter, I filled the crockpot, added some honey instead of sugar, spices and cooked it on high for a few hours then switched to low for the rest of the day until the end where I switched to high again to reach desired consistancy. All in all, it simmered in the crock for over 15 hours LOL. I used Chopsticks to keep the lid propped open on the crockpot so that evaporation could occur. It's so yummy.

I can officially say now that what I thought was weird: Peanut Butter & Apple Butter Sandwiches....is OMG delicious!
