Default getting rid of the bottle....how?

My son is 26 months and will not drink out of anything but a bottle...He will go the whole day with drinking nothing. Even at the daycare he wont drink, so finally they asked me to bring in a bottle for him.

I guess I am here looking for some tips as to how you other moms got their kids off the bottle...ha ha Im making them sound like alcoholics...lol

I cut a hole in the nipple(like i did with the soother). When she took a drink it came out so fast and spilled. So we said its broken and she put them in the garbage. It took 2-3 days before she realized that she wasn't going to get a bottle so she took the cup.

With Kellan we had a little "Bottle's be gone" party. He would have been about 2. We threw away his bottles in a garbage can and went right out after the party to the store and bought him sippies, all of his choice. It was an expensive trip to WalMart for sippies but well worth it. He never asked for a bottle again. Koen gave it up no problem before he was a year on his own. He went right to drinking from a straw because that is what he saw Kellan do.

Both my girls went from bottle to the Nuby sippy cups. It has a soft spout just like a bottle and they come in different varieties! Maybe you can see if your little guy will try these. My oldest DD had a hard time breaking away from the bottle too and the Nuby sippy cup was the best solution for me!

Like the pp, I got the nuby cups as well. She liked them best. Maybe they would be the best to try to make the transition.

I used the nubby cups also at frist. Wave didnt even seem to notice and she was on to the "bigger" sippy cups in days. Now to get her from the sippy to regular, LOL, its been messy so far but she really wants a big girl cup, so we give her one cup of water a day in a regular cup.
