Default HELP! I need some advice...

I know this is TMI but I need some advice:

I have always been constipated on & off since I had my son but now that I am pregnant again I am in major pain.

I take Metamucil daily (sometimes twice, sometimes I forget) but I have been in major pain for 3 days now. I am only able to go a small amount but feel constantly like I need. to. go.....it's painful!

Any suggestions on what I can do to help?

Right now I am having troubles keeping things down as I am vomitting off & on all day long & hardly keeping water down either. I am wondering if I should be calliong my OB but don't wanna call for something silly IYKWIM.

    Help!

    Ouch!

I would call your OB. I don't think that is something silly to call about.

Colace. You can get it over the counter. Talk to the pharmacist, but I'm pretty sure it's safe when pregnant.

Oatmeal. One packet of instant a day. Try to sip water whenever you can. Every little bit helps!

I found granola bars worked wonders or all bran bars. Fruit is good for the bowels as well.
If those aren't an option due to sickness, try a laxative like ex-lax or something like that.
Congrats on the pregnancy and good luck with the other issue!

I had terribly constipation too in the first trimester. I bought a bag of prunes, and ate 2-3 daily. I also invested in lots of All Bran and ate it every morning with a banana for breakfast. Some people find the opposite effect with bananas but they get things goin full steam ahead for me. Also, this may be frowned upon by some but I'm going to say it anyways.... I find that coffee helps me go too. I'm not saying drink a pot a day or anything, but perhaps just a mug, maybe two.

I will never forget the experience of the first time after having my first child. *SHUDDER*. It was a couple days after my csection and hooorrrrrible.

When I had dd I was determined not to have that happen! I ate bran cereal, bran muffins, ate bananas, etc. (Bananas work for me, too.)

If I were in your situation I'd ask about the colase or about Lansoyl. I am not sure if Lansoly is ok pregnant, as I only ever gave it to my son when he used to be horribly constipated as a toddler. It's like a jam/jelly and usually one dose is enough and it greases the poop up and it slides on out.

Ask the pharmacist for help, or your midwife, or ob. It ISNT silly, it's real pain, and it's not healthy to just keep it in there. ETA: and they have surely heart it allll befofe!

Dried fruit also helps (dates, prunes, apricots). Not silly at all, give your ob a call and see if thee is anything safe to take to help. Or ask the pharmasist (sp)

Thanks ladies for all the suggestions...I knew you would help!
I am off to the pharmasist to ask about Colace or something similar that is safe for when pregnant (I didn't think there would be anything) I am so relieved to think I couldbe pain free in the next day or so...yay!!
I am also going to grab some prune juice (ick).
    Thanks!

To bad you don't live in Strathroy, I have a lots of stuff from my last pregnancy. I through out one thing and I don't recall what it was but I bought it behind the counter. It was some type of sugar. I also used Senna Laxative and suppositories. I was like this the entire time I nursed too!

    Good times!

PEG (Polyethlyeneglycol) is what doctors reccommend for children with constipation because it's non habit forming and doesn't have the symptoms other products seem to cause , I think adults can use it too, talk to your dr.

a naturopath told me that metamucil is not good for your bowels. apparently in some people its like cement and long term makes it harder.

My family doc recommended Finn's bran crackers.

I also ate clementines like a mofo.

    It seemed to really help.
