DS had a little snowsuit - or one of those bunting bags and I would just put him in that on the really cold days.
In the colder fall weather I had a really big scarf that I would wrap over top of him/us as an extra layer

i totally want a peekaru vest! but omg are they expensive, i'm not paying that. lol
umm. with dd1 i did a few different things... (i was using a mt at the time)... sometimes i would get us each bundled like normal and then tie her on - this i mostly did if i intended to take her out of the carrier at some point to play.
another thing i did was, since she had a 2-piece snowsuit, sometimes i would put her in her snowpants and then put her in the carrier with her arms out, and then put the winter jacket part on her around the carrier (does that make sense?), and then her hat and mitts and my coat. so her back and arms would be covered by her coat and her front was mostly covered by my jacket, kept warm with body heat. the reason i'd do this is because when i took her out for walks she often fell asleep, so this way when we got home i could take off all the outerwear except for the snowpants without having to take her out which would have woken her up, kwim, and i'd just let her stay in her snowpants and nap that way.

hmm.. I'm thinking.. I think I have an idea for a cover that we could use over carriers with some fleece = no sewing, just a pattern that you could put over your heads and tie it around you like mei tai straps...
I guess it would sort of be like wearing a thicker wrap around both of you.. but could easily be taken off when you got somewhere.
GAH now Ive added something else to my sewing list - it's too long! lol

Let me know if you figure this out foximamma (not that you don't already have enough to do!). I just can't justify spending the amount of money they want for those cover carries (for lack a better word) when it is our last.

i forgot about the poncho i made years ago. i basically used these instructions
Wrapsody: The Wraparound Baby Carrier, by GypsyMama LLC
only i took it in down the sides so it would look less frumpy-y lol and added a collar

that would be super easy!... fleece, cut a square and cut a hole in the middle for their heads.. then tuck the sides into the carrier so that it isn't drafty

I just bought a coat a couple sizes up and stick the baby in a carrier under my coat. When DS got to big for my coat I borrowed DH's . It only works if the baby is on the front though, I never tried a back carry in winter.
From my experiences last year and the year before it is SO MUCH easier than trying to get a stroller through the snow. I'm more wondering what on earth I'm gonna do with DS this year!

I'm starting to wonder what I'll do this winter. I have to walk Arianne and Liam to their bus stop. Caden can walk but Xavier in the snow? I've been wearing him on my back since he hates the stroller but I've never even thought about what I'm going to do in the winter..gah!!
