Default When making your own longies or shorties...

.....from an old sweater, do you felt the sweater first? And, do you need to use a serger on the seams? Or, can you just sew them?

TIA

like, if I buy a Value Village sweater, chances are if I felt it first, I won't have enough material to sew with. (though it does make most wool bulletproof lol). It will most likelychange the appearance and texture.

So I won't felt upcycled wool.

If I buy wool interlock, I'm buying a couple of yards, and I'll wash (it doesn't really change the appearance of the wool either).
I like to be able to toss my wool into the wash, so I don't normally upcycle wool anymore. When I first got into it, I did, but now not so much.

I did luck out and find wool interlock at Fabricland on clearance last year, marked as an unknown fiber, and got a uber good deal on it. lol
