Just heard the most ignorant thing!!!
This infurriates me. There was a young couple walking down our street. Our neighbours were walking past us and I noticed the father was wearing their baby in a snuggli. Usually they use a sheet that they tie in a knot on their back. Its the way their culture does it and it works wonderfully. Anyways, I was thinking "aww thats nice they got a new carrier!" The Daddy seemed really happy about it. This young dad blurts out "Oh wow they are moving up in the world! No more stupid bedsheets".
What an ass. I dont think my neighbours heard them. I wanted to flip out but i bit my tounge.

I kind of wish you had said something. I'm always chicken about calling people out but wish I had the courage to do it.

They weren't jerks if they really thought that the neighbours were only using bedsheets because they could not afford the carrier that they really wanted. I mean, it sounds to me like they were just being happy (albeit maybe not informed) about the neighbours finally getting a preferred carrier?
I wouldn't have gotten mad, but maybe just corrected them.

Yep there are a lot of ignorant people out there!
My neighbours use carriers and fabric/bedsheets, but no one comments or is rude about it. All in all we have pretty good neighbours here.
Wow..

Nope, the moment I heard the “moving up in the world“ comment I would have lost it. You've now met me, MrsC, and I honestly would have went ballistic. I would have assumed the worst, unfortunately. I would have assumed they meant malice as soon as they sarcasm was interpreted. Now, this is how I'm reading it. Correct me if I“m reading it wrong. Then if I am reading it wrong and I was said as surprise or wonder, then ya, I might have made a PA comment about how it's nice to be able to afford those overpriced wraps vs a bed sheet but that really wouldn't accomplish anything. I'm sorry you heard something like that... it's just sad.
