What kind of wrap?
What sort of wrap do I buy? I'm completely clueless. I had a cuddly wrap for Nate and I didn't use it because it seemed like so much material wrapped around me it drove me crazy in seconds, but I'd like to try something with this little one. Where do I begin? I want something that is light and easy to use. ermm...Help! The options are kind of overwhelming.

cotton gauze is cheap and easy to use. Light weight.
It IS a lot of material, but i find once you get over the learning curve it's super quick and easy.

Hmm...I looked at Mei Tai carriers online and I don't think they are for me.
Leigh, I won't lie I like the pretty fabrics. LOL
I'd also forgot. I'd like to nurse in one too.
What about slings? Is that what I'm supposed to avoid with a newborn? Something that just goes over my head and across my back sounds really good.

There are TONS of awesome cotton gauze stuff around.
Alternatively, you can always dye or paint it yourself
I have a RS, and I don't find it that easy to use with a newborn, nor can I nurse in it. Loved it for Noah from the time he was about 4ish mos old to carry around and nurse in though.
And you can nurse in a wrap

Would all wraps be similar to the cuddly wrap I bought for Nate? Because I felt encased. I couldn't stand all the fabric around me. Like get this off of me before I scream kind of encased.

You should get a woven wrap. Honestly, it wasn't until about a month ago or so that I was totally sold on the idea of woven wraps as opposed to other carriers, but now I am. The long ones are a lot of fabric, it's true, but give yourself a few days to learn FWCC (easiest IMO and basic carry) and you'll have it. I do prefer shorter wraps in general but that's personal preference. Stretchy wraps typically come longer than regular woven wraps though (although regular long ones are very long as well - regular size is 4.5-4.7ish meters).
Ring slings are great for young babies as well. But I actually find them harder to use than shorties (short woven wraps) in rebozo carries - I found with my RS, although I got the basics right away, I found it hard to get just right without a lot of work (having it pretightened, then spreading out the fabric in the rings, etc...) so I figured I would just practice every day and master the art of RSing. And I never did. I have no idea why people say ring slings are easy, I found it easier to get the hang of my woven wraps, at least in the basic easy carries like FWCC and FCC.

See I find that snuggly. But yeah I do prefer shorter wraps that will be less mumifying. (That's mostly because I'm not sure I necessarily believe that longer wraps are more versatile like people always say they are - plus they fold up smaller, are more convenient for wrapping with outside, some of my favourite carries use less fabric... etc. Totally personal preference though.) Come to a babywearing meeting and try a few wraps and see how they feel!

See I found the opposite, I love my RS from the day DD was born, and can nurse in it hands free!!!
That being said, wrap is definitely my favourite- once you get used to it, you can customize it so easily its lovely!
