60 days....no aspertame.
Well....I have been doing some research on aspertame and I am not happy with what I have been reading. One site I was on proposed that a person would do 60 days without consuming any foods containing aspertame, then re-evalute their health, and how they feel.
My suspicion is that aspertame is related to my constant eczeme outbreak on my hands, my super dry heals, and possibly my feeling of general ill health.
So, I am accepting this challenge. As of now, I will not be consuming any aspertame product for the next 60 days. And, I will see if anything improves in that time
Anyone else want to try this with me?
ETA- this will be super hard for me....I drink diet pop all.day.long.

Good for you. I avoid aspartame as much as possible. I always suspected it was bad for me, but it's awful for my anxiety. As much as I love diet pepsi, I won't drink it anymore because of that. I hope you find some improvements in your health!

I don't drink pop or use artificial sweeteners but what else is it in?

Sorry, but we only use it as an ant poison after what I have read about it (originally it was created as an ant poison)...No way I would eat it!

I'm in!! I don't have that much, but have alwasy suspected it makes me feel crappy!
Tan, its in alot of stuff these days. Anything labelled “diet“ or “sugar free“ or “no sugar added“ would most likely have it.

I've managed to avoid all artificial sweetners including aspartame since I found out I was pg. I haven't noticed a huge difference in my eczema or dry skin, but I have noticed that things which are sweetened with sugar taste “sweeter,“ if that makes sense. I am also not craving sugar as much.

Strangely, when I got pregnant with Ila (2nd baby) was the first time I was able to taste aspertame in my foods. Before that I never really noticed it. Even after givining birth, I can still taste it, every time. I also seem more able to taste chemicals in other food.....I guess its a good thing?!

When I was in my early teens, I had to stop drinking my Mom's diet pop because the aspartame gave me headaches. Now the taste of it makes me cringe.

I avoided it while I was pg. I don't drink diet pop but chew gum a lot so that was kinda hard. I guess I could give up gum for 60 days though. Is there anything else minty that doesn't have aspartame in it? Good luck on your challenge!

I don't consume aspartame and try not to consume other artificial sweeteners either because they give me headaches and I think they also make me moodier (in a bad way!).
Good luck with your challenge!

You can get gum with xylitol in it, which is actually from nature and is good for oral health. That's the only kind of gum I let my kids chew. (They don't eat gum often but when they do ).
I think it's great LM and everyone else that is giving it up, I never eat it and if I do by accident do right off I can taste how chemically it is. I was lucky to read a report on how rats reacted to it and grew tumors on their body, it was disgusting. I gave it up when I learnt about it too.

I *think* the only aspartame I consume is in the occasional bottle of flavoured water.
I think that some brands use it and some do not?
I can't stand diet pops. They taste weird to me.
I'll go through my fridge and cupboards tomorrow and see what all we eat/drink that has it, and then decide if I'll join your sixty day team LOL.
I'm only so strong
(maybe I should go to bed and I'd feel stronger eh.)
