Thanks for all of the responses! I was able to talk to the principal of DD's school today...He was VERY excited to hear about the nochildwithout program. He was working on getting them set up! Fantastic news!!! I will let you know when I hear anything else.

On an even better note.....Her principal has a ton of experience with Celiac as they had a friend living with them for 6 months that had it!!!! What a blessing to have someone so close to DD understand how important it is to avoid these foods!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is great news that the principle is on board with the medic alert bracelents and has knowledge about Celiac.

That's awesome about the principal! It's great when you can get them on board!

Thank goodness you have one of the good ones. Definitely apply for the no child without program. It's a lifetime membership. At least thats what I was told when we signed up our DD through the hospital. We have her specialists sign off on everything like that. Get it all submitted. You can also speak with your dr. to get this stuff filled out too. The Medic Alert pamphlets are in almost ever dr.s office I've been in. We pay every time DD has to have her bracelet replaced. The little bugger keeps pulling it off. She's better now.

Leigh. Get the boy a bracelet. What you can do is put on it “muliple allergies and _____. Please call for info“ Also, if your kiddies are too small and the smallest bracelet size won't work, you can put it on their ankle. Most paramedics are now trained to look on wrists, necks & ankles for that kind of info. And i“ve even seen the medic alert number as a speed dial on one of the paramedics for Miss A.

I believe the no child without is only until they turn 18 then they have to get the adult version. or possibly the students first if they are still in school.

Some organizations and manufacturers also help pay the costs of medic alert memberships (or renewals) at times.

I have seen some of the allergy and specialized health organizations offer a deal to members in conjunction with medic alert. I think this is more often the case in the states than in Canada.

Recently in Canada, Twinject (an altenate brand to Epi Pens) was offering to cover the cost of a medic alert renewal. This was probably in an attempt to increase their product being purchased instead of an epi pen since twinject had a few reports a couple of years ago with a defective autoinjector in a few cases.

If anyone chooses to go with the stainless steel bracelet through the 'no child without program', just check the links on it before you let your child wear it.

Occassionally, the bracelets O links that hold the chain onto the engraved plate are not fully closed.

My older daughter has a few times gotten the rings caught on the carpet or clothing. By using pliers to close them fully, they stopped getting caught.

bought my JKer the sportd band last year. It is a slip together not a velcro. I love that it looks kind of cool as it was hard at first to get him to wear it, but the cool lime green colour helped. Only problem, he can undo it himself so takes it off when he feels like it. Then I notice it not on his wrist and he cannot remember where he removed it - we are in that situation now, not knowing where it is so he is not wearing one!

Really? They don't weld them closed anymore? All of Miss A's have been welded. That's going back years though.

J, really? I'll have to look into that because we were told lifetime membership last time we called. hmm... interesting.
