I used a product called “Thicken-Up“ when Daegan was younger. It was covered by ACSD.
Funny.. I get application forms mailed to me every year to complete for ACSD. It gets done by the deadline each year to maintain Daegan's coverage. It is a hassle, but if you've been doing it annually for this long, it becomes second nature and no big deal, provided that you keep track of all your expenses thru the year, which I do.

LOL At least you can move ahead with it now. I've used baby cereal to thicken DS' baby food...but don't know if it is similar. I have only heard of Thicken from moms in the community, it has never been suggested for him.

if this product is anything like the “thicken up“I used with Daegan, just beware that itr might cause significant weight gain. The stuff I used was a pure carbohydrate. This was a welcome perk for us as he was sevferely underweight

yah, they didn't have Simply Thick in stock. Its thicken up. We don't need to use much to get the desired consistency, and even if he DOES gain weight, it won't hurt lol

My little guy is on simply thick to thicken up my BM in the NICU..there is a big difference in carbs/calories. The simply thick has less then 1g carbs and 0 calories for nectar consistancy in 8oz of fluid.... thicken up has 10.3g carbs and 40 calories for the same amount. Or 1g carbs 5 calories for honey consistency for simply thick and 12 g carbs and 45calories for thicken up...just FYI. Glad its working.

Weight gain can sure be a positive side effect at times, can't it Leigh? DS is finally putting on some weight again, he was the same weight up and down within the one KG for about a year. We've increased his caloric count a bit and it seems to be working.
