A Baby Story
Totally pisses me off. Why do I watch it? I'll watch one then think "nope never watching it again" then a few weeks later I think it will be better. Nope. Guess it is reflective about the general population but gah!

every time i've seen it the mother has “had to“ supplement for one reason or another. theres a lot of misinformation on there, and it frustrates me too. havent watched it in forever though.

When I was pregnant with DS and home on the couch, I used to bet the nanny on what interventions would be used and whether they'd be giving formula for the 6 week follow up. She was amazed that I was 100% right on the formula (it's always 'yes'. in all the years I've watched, only 2x has the mom ever been bf'ing at 6 weeks). 90% of the time they end up getting pitocin, so that was a good bet, and at least 60% are c/s as a result. Not exactly represntative, but so frustrating to watch. I still cry at every birth though. So stupid.

I pretty much watched them all when I was preggo. There are so many inductions as well!! I did see a few home births, natural hospital births, and births at birthing centre's too. I so wish there were birthing centre's here!

Yeah, that pisses me off too! I've heard, you can't bf when the baby is early, the baby didn't like breast milk and all kinds of other crazy things!! Makes me angry, and kind of sad...
Also, it always seems that in the hospitals they still take the babies away. Like here, babies sleep with the mum. In the states I think they still have nurseries. Which leads to bottle feeding...!

Haven't seen it in awhile, probably good as I tend to yell at televisions over stuff like that, or complain to my husband who gives me strange looks because it is TV
Maybe we should start a letter writing campaign ?D

Yeah, I've concluded almost everything in the US is stacked against breastfeeding! Many states there are not licensed/certified midwives, many of those that are can't do homebirths, some insurance plans won't cover a midwife/homebirth even if available, ridiculously short maternity leaves, formula provided by the daycare centre without cost... um, you wonder why your breastfeeding stats are low? Isn't it obvious??
