Things people say when your baby wearing
OK, so kind of a spin off to the having picts taken of you when you're wearing...
what things have people said to you or have you heard people say when you're wearing your baby?
I get alot of comments, like people have never seen it before.
Like "oh that's a great idea", "look at the cute baby", "that's a neat way to carry your baby", from someones DH "look hunny, you should carry ___ like that, I wonder where she got that"
and the funniest ones "OMG there is a baby in her shirt", and "OMG I thought you were deformed till I saw the ear and realized there was a baby in there" LMAO hahaaaa

Hahah!
I've had the “I thought you were pregnant!“ or whatever. Umm, there's a head and feet?!? LOL!
I've also heard “that's the only way to travel!“ a few times.
And “I wish they'd had those when my kids were small“
Recently got a “but she'll never want to be put down“ and I've heard a few times the “doesn't that hurt your back?“

I always get the “are you sure he's safe“
My favourite was when he was around 6-7months and someone told me that my poor child would never learn to walk in a carrier..the kicker is she followed it up with he should be in a stroller.
I never did figure out how a stroller helps them learn to walk better and since he started walking at 10months I guess the carrier didn't do much damage either.

i get alot of “thats a great idea, best place for baby to be!
i have yet to get any negative responses however while at marineland this week i had either the baby or toddler wrapped and hubby said i got alot of “looks“
maybe because there were not many babywearers that day???

I usually get compliments, but one time, I was wearing him in my sling and a guy walked past and said “for F*** sake!“

I just get a lot of stares. I feel like I didn't get a lot with dd1 in the snugli, but with dd2 and ds in the MT's I often feel like a spectical, esp when I'm putting them in it. People often stare in wonder/confusion or the smile knowingly, yk?

I had one strange comment - “oh, I thought that was a backpack - you know, one of those character ones? But it's a baby!“

No one said anything to us, but when my sister and I were walking with her DS in a ring sling and my DD2 in a NMMT people were staring at us as though we were aliens. Seriously, everyone in the airport was practically gawking. I thought it was really weird, I see people BW all the time, I didn't think we should be such an interesting sight

I got a “well that looks like a handy carrier“ when I was carrying DS in the MT last week. He's 3 and we were walking to the Bulk Barn, so he would've been a)too tired to walk the whole way and b)putting his hands in all of the containers.
I've also gotten “doesn't that hurt your back“ to which think, “No, but carrying her in my arms all day certainly does.“

I get a lot of “she looks comfy in there” and “great way to see the world” because she’s at a higher level than in the stroller. I’ve also got a few “it must be easier getting around than with a stroller” and “cozy place for a nap”.
From other moms they often have questions like – how do you get her to like it? Where did you get it? How do you get your DH to wear her?
In London it seemed like a novelty, but in Calgary a lot of moms use them. I was at a mall yesterday and I counted 25 moms with babes in carriers, in the grocery store on Monday there were two other moms shopping while using the carrier.

I've really only gotten compliments and some stares before. The tour boat with the picture taking was extreme, though. I generally get more comments when I have the baby on my back, like “how did she get up there“. When I show them they are generally terrified (I do the superman-fling to get her on my back). I had one lady tell me about how slings are deadly once (after the bag-sling recall). I assured her that this is not a bag sling and went on a rant ho bag slings shouldn't be allowed.

the three that really stick out for me was once some old man asked me if I was a pack mule..
another time a cashier at Zellers was trying convincing me that it just could not be comfortable, and so hot blah blah, I mentioned to her if it wasnt for babywearing I wouldnt be able to get through Zellers because it is so disorganized LOL
the other day at the grocery store a senior lady said when she lived in Peru that was the way she wore her babies.. and when she moved back to Canada, the looks she got were unreal. she said it was wonderful to see me wearing Z
