    Default am i drying up?

E is getting over an ear infection so of course he has been up constantly. however now that he is feeling better he is still up and very unhappy. he is nursing often like every 1.5 to 2 hrs. right after a feed he is content but it is back to the cranks after about an hr. he rarely gets a bottle unless i am out. he has started solids in small amounts a few times a day.
so i was out today and nursed just before i left and told hubby he should be fine until i get back...well 1 hr later he is hysterical and hubby gives a bottle and he was much happier. (MIL was here at the time so her suggestion is that it must be time to quit since i am not making enough to keep him happy!)

i am taking Domperidone and started back on fenugreek and blessed thistle to see if that helps.
i should mention while he is nursing he latches and sucks for a minute then pulls off and repeats this whole thing and gets quite frustrated until the milk starts flowing. this is new for him. i try feeding off both sides and it makes no difference...

anything i am missing? i am not ready to stop nursing, now that we got to 6 months i really want to keep going!

    How old?

Could be a growth spurt. During that time it might feel like you don't have enough because your supply is getting “readjusted“ if you will. His wanting to nurse so much and/or being fussy at the breast is just an indication that your body needs to produce more -- and the only way to do that is nurse on demand.

he is 6 months... maybe a bit older if you go by weeks....
how long should it take, i hate feeling he is not staisfied and then i get the MIL and hubby jumping to the conclusion he needs a bottle! this has been going on for about a week now!

6 months ... yep. Sounds about right.

Well, the thing is, you have to nurse on demand. Ditch the bottles and just nurse as much as you can to build your supply to where HE needs it. I would assume the fussiness will subside in a few days IF you do not supplement and just nurse as much as possible, when he needs/wants to be put to breast.

YES, offer both sides, for sure.

And breast compressions. Have you tried those? That will help, too.

so he refuses both sides but i started back on the herbs and boobies are flowing and he is happy and slept so much better last night!!
i just don't understand why i need the herbs as i nurse often and when he wants, other then starting him on solids!
    thanks for the help!
