Default I'd like to know what's up with online shopping/shipping

I was online window-shopping at Old Navy just now, and noticed they have a new "Shipping to" logo at the top right of the page. It had a US flag next to it, and when clicked, it brings up all of the a-millionty different countries they will ship to........and Canada is not one of them yet. WTF? We have their stores here, so why don't they ship here? TCP is the same (or at least they were the last time I checked). That is a pet peeve of mine.

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that they actually do have stores here, so if they sell to Canadian residents they need to add on sales taxes, etc. Whereas maybe if they sell to someone in a country where they don't have a store, they don't have to worry about it.

Gah. It just drives me nuts that they have online exclusive products and then you can't even get them...even though we have those stores here. Thumbs down.

I've been told before it was a customs issue...but why can places like Gymboree, Bath and Bodyworks , Pottery Barn, and Lands End do it, and not TCP, ON, Gap??

I've heard that they're supposed to start shipping to Canada soon. I think it popped up one time when I went to the website. I'm just not sure when.

Everytime you have that problem complain to customer service. If everyone complains they'll realize they are missing out on a huge # of customers and get their acts, and shipping policies, together and start shipping to Canada.

Target is the biggest one on my wish list.

Gap and ON will be shipping to Canada in September. However, it is my understanding that merchandise will be shipped from the US, so we will likely have to pay duty.

Worth it for the stuff we can't get here, but not so woerth it to pay duty on the syuff I could grab in store myself. It will likely make for major homework knowing what's worth the shipping/duty.
