Default Body odour at age 7/8??

So I noticed my DD has BO in her armpits...adult BO, faint, but it is there... she turns 8 this July!

Is this normal? I thought I had a few years yet before I had to buy her deodorant!!?

    Anyone else going through this?

if you are noticing it, her peers probably are too.

I think everyone is different, but if you are noticing it, time for a deoderant.

I got three sweaty-heads. That's what I call them. They inherited my genetic perspiration attributes which means that they will immediately start to cool off.

The older two have passed through that age and did require some product every once and again. Not every day, but enough to want to get them some product, just in case. The youngest has a bit older to go, but has all the signs of being a chronic sweat generator.

It's normal for my kids as there is history of the same that runs through the family. I would think that it's normal for other kids too.

Well it's a sign of puberty and my two of my little cousins had their periods by the age of 8! So it does happen.

You need to bring this up wirh her doctor, there is a condition where childhood BO is a symptom. Nothing serious. Just FYI

I had to shave my underarms by age 9. It was no longer an option.

My DD is the same age. I personally don't notice any negative BO odours from her...nothing I don't smell in other sweaty kids....yet her father sent her home from her last visit with a stick of deoderant saying she smells and needs it. So I dunno maybe I'm used to it and not noticing, but I don't make her use the deoderant yet.

I had armpit hair by grade four for sure, possibly earlier. But I remember on our grade four trip to the pool, being teased relentlessly cos someone saw it and I hadn't noticed it yet.

I am pretty sure I wore deodorant by then, too, and that would havebeen 10 for me.
They say that puberty starts earlier and earlier, and many girls start periods at 9 nowadays.

I would get her some deodorant. Make it a thing more like “You're old enough for this now I think, don't you?“ thing rahter than a “Honey, you smell.“

I wouldn't likely be concerned...seems fairly normal age to start. And don't panic it means she's hitting puberty full fledged I was certainly not an early bloomer except for the hair and bo lol.

I remember telling my mom that I needed deodorant, and she said “No, you're too young!“ and I said “But mom, my armpits stink!“ and then she smelled them, lol, and got me some deodorant. I can't remember how old I was, but probably 8 or 9.

Yes! My DD is 7 (8 in October) and I recently noticed her being smelly. Not quite the “oniony“ smell adults get, more of a sour smell (sorry lol). So ya, some kids get it early!
