My son has been wearing SMOs for over a year now and we just buy runners anywhere(Payless or Walmart usually). Just get the shoes about 1 or 2 sizes bigger than usual and then take the insoles of the shoes out(as you won't need them because you have the SMOs) My son is getting his second pair of SMOs this week and I just bought his shoes at Walmart. Velcro or lace-up will do...they say lace-up are better as you can get a snugger fit once they are done up, but velcro is just fine too. We've been using velcro so that my son can be independent and put his own shoes and smos on.

Hmmm. Looks like my opinion may be opposite. I wouldn't recommend buying a size or two bigger or velcro.

My 2.5 year old was born with a club foot and misplaced tendons. The shoes he wears have to be lace-up and supportive. We buy them at Kidz Feet in St Thomas. They deal with a lot of kids who need orthotics. They are leather shoes built on site to offer as much support as needed. And they are not over-the-top expensive.

I;d go to Ellen's her store in Cherry hill is closing and I hear they have great deals. Her new location is in Sherwood forest mall.

I agree with Melissa1977 I wouldn't do velcro or buy bigger shoes than necessary.
