Unhappy They took him out of the program

    After ONE time meeting them.

TVCC DRI program that is. I told them things were going to be hectic aournd May 1st, and we would not be able to come for appointments scheduled in those times. I told them both in person, and on the phone.

I guess they tried calling us while our services were not moved, and luckily I checked my messages from my cell phone. Anyways 2 weeks of phone tag, they removed Nolan from the program.

I returned every single call, and every single message.

    We need this program.

I'm sorry, I can relate we were almost taken out of a program for dd2 b/c of 2 missed calls over the holidays and also while we were inbetween houses. (not tvcc, somewhere else) They also stated they were glad I called b/c otherwise they'd have to send a letter to the ped! (in a threatening tone). I just rolled my eyes “oh no“, sigh. Anyway, I hope you can get him back in, maybe have your doc send another referral letter?

That is crap. Is there a supervisor or someone else you could talk to about this. If you don't get any where with them it does not hurt to call your local MPP for help.

The program looks at children his age with specific developmental delays, and behaviour issues. Our first issue it was explain that they would be working on placing him somewhere on the autism spectrum, or hopefully ruling out all concerns about special needs.

What is “the program“ they took him out of? Did they take him out of a program run out of TVCC or did they end his participation in DRI? If it is the program at TVCC then I would go back to DRI and find out what to do next. DRI co-ordinates to make sure that all the needs are being met in the community as far as therapies etc. Obviously you feel that is not happening now. If his participation in DRI was ended that would be odd, but parents can self-refer so I would just put in another referral if that was what was required.

We had a similar issue with KidsAbility in KW when we moved. MSN me if you want to talk -- I KNOW they can reopen the file.

I agree with Eversoclever. I would get another appt. with your contact at DRI and find out why he was removed. It seems bizarre that he would be taken out of DRI over 2 weeks of phone tag.
Is it because your ds is now approaching 2 years (can't remember how old he is)

He will be 2 June 25th. We actually have only just been approved in March and had our first meeting with them around easter. She sent us a few letters setting up appointments, I phoned and said those dates do not work since we are in the process of moving those dates, among other things that needed to be done. I never got ahold of the lady on the phone so I went in and saw her directly, and she told me she would call with a new date for his upcoming appointments. Well we didnt move our service with us because of an issue with rogers, but I continued to call her to explain that situation and give her my cell number. So she called my cell phone twice, and the last message said she was removing Nolan from the program because we have not been able to get in contact other than through voice mail So I called her back monday and left 4 messages, still nothing back. I am trying again tomorrow.

We hardly got to use any of the programs available to him, and it sucks.
