    Default what is shinny?!

Please forgive....I was not born here and hockey is not in my blood!

I'm looking at the skate schedule and wanting to go to the Parent and Tot skates, and sometimes on the schedule it says just PT Skate, and other times it says PT Skate/Shinny.

    What is shinny hockey?!

Is this something that would be dangerous to my not-very-good-at-skating preschoolers if we were out on the ice? Are we likely to get hit with something?!

Dh has been taking Cooper to the shinny at Carling and he takes his hockey stick and pucs and gets to shoot them around.

Shinny as I have always known it means pickup hockey. Showup and play.
