Default for those who have used clomid

can you tell me a bit about your personal experiences with it? the good, bad and the ugly please..
does it make you crazy...what side effects did you have with it? did it take long to concieve?

we are debating going this route this summer. Hubby is afraid it'll make me even more crazy then i am though.

I did several rounds of Clomid and I never conceived on it despite ovulating on it. I did have some pretty nasty mood swings on it - not fun. The last three times that I conceived, we were taking a break from Clomid/Puregon. I was on, however, Metformin each of those times. Have you talked to your RE (if you're seeing a specialist) about that medication? It is REALLY important that you are monitored on Clomid as there is a life-time maximum (I forget what the recommended # is) before you ncrease your chances for ovarian problems. My GP had me on it, but he wasn't testing to see if I was ovulating or hyper-ovulating - not good!

Good luck with your choice; infertility is a hard road to travel.

I have been on Clomid...this is round 7 I think...no baby yet crazy mood swings though to the point where I am actually clinically depressed and am on anti-depressants now while on the Clomid so people can actually be around me.

I took it last January and conceived the first month on the lowest dosage.
I had a really bad migraine for a few days, but didn't find it made me have mood swings. I was actually pretty surprised because normal birth control pills make me unbearable to be around.
We lost that baby, not related to Clomid at all. I took a few months off as suggested by my OB. Took it again in July with no luck and then August when I got pregnant with this baby.

    Good luck!

When I was on clomid the first three months did not bother me but after that I felt crazy while on it and I could not sleep either. I ended up using clomid with femera and getting pregnant with IUI

I started on the lowest dose and got pregger first month. I didn't get crazy although I warned DH I would. What did happen to me was both of my ovaries got huge cysts on them...one ruptured when I was 5 weeks along and the other grew to 15 cms before starting to shrink. It caused alot of pain and agony, but DS was totally worth it.

we decided that using clomid was the most we would do to conieve..if we dont get pregant this way..then we figure its not meant to be.

I used Clomid for about 6 months in conjuction with IUI and did conceive, but had a miscarriage. I didn't have any side effects at all but I was on the lowest dosage so maybe thats why? I was then switched to femara with IUI and conceived my DS.

My experience with clomid was not a bad as I thought it would be. I did have a few mood swings but nothing that was unbearable and had horrible bloating followed by strange “popping“ sensations.
I am happy to report that the clomid did work after two months and we are lucky enough to be expecting twins! So in the end it was well worth the minor discomfort .
    Wishing you luck!

    Sounds familiar...

We have three boys and we had decided that we would take Metformin and monitor my cycles to see what would happen. We weren't certain that we would do IUI again, but we would welcome a baby if we were to conceive with minimal intervention.

I was going away for 3 weeks in August without my husband and I was starting a new job in September, so we decided to take a break (we had been trying for about 8 mos. before that) until I settled into my new job. My husband came out and joined our sons and me on our vacation at my parents' cottage. My Mum sent us over to PEI for 3 days without the kids and BAM! We conceived! I found out the day before I started my new job...BIG surprise!

I hope that you are blessed with a similar surprise!

I used clomid for one month at the lowest dosage, and have a 7 year old to attribute to it!

I ovulated really late on it (cd21 I think?) But have since found out, I just ovulate late anyway, this one was naturally conceived, and I didn't ovulate until cd 20+ this time either.

I was a bit cranky, if I remember correctly, but nothing TOO over the top!

    Good Luck! Are you charting?
