My Mood:
Default Mat Leave

Hi there,

I am a bit confused as too exactly how maternity leave works.

I have read this link: Pregnancy and Parental Leave | Ontario Ministry of Labour

Perhaps it is too early in the morning for me with little coffee, but the one section says I'm entitled to 37 weeks, and then the EI section says 52 weeks. I was under the impression I would get 52 weeks off, paid thru EI as long as I had the appropriate number of hours. I was employed part-time from Nov - March 29 working 20 hours per week - though I had an EI claim until January I was able to take concurrently. I will be working full-time at my new job from Mar 29 @ 37.5 hours per week until my due date (hopefully) Oct 21/22, 2010, so I am pretty sure I will have my hours in.

When exactly do I start getting the ball rolling on this, and where do I start? I have no idea about EI for anything other than regular unemployment benefits.

thanks
