fever in the middle of the night..

My poor guy. He'll be fine all day but last night and the night before, around three am he has woke up with the most horrible fever!!! I dont get it. He gets so fussy and miserable and hoooot. I was up till abotu six with him, I got the fever down, but I dont understand it. I guess it could be teething, but he's not fussy during the day so its like what the heck!!!!!

Perhaps an ear infection? It would bother him more when he is lying down, but not as much if he is up and about. Try a warm compress on his ears at night(when he is up), he'll respond pretty quickly if his ears are bothering him.

def sounds like either teething or ear infection. my DS is always worse at night when he has his ear infections.

dd did that for 3 days on the easter weekend. we took her in to the after hours clinic only to have the doctor find a brand new molar he checked her ear, chest, back, went to check the throat and found the tooth we laughed cause after her being sick for the last month and a half we took her in for a fever thinking that its the end of the world only to find a tooth

He didnt have a fever last night (yay!!), but he has been nawing on everything the past few days so I am really starting to lean towards it being a tooth comin in.

I don't have any idea but I hope he feels better soon...Carleigh had something similar before Christmas -2 days with a low grade fever but no other symptoms at all...it just went away over night on the second night & she was fine....It was the first time I really believed they could get a touch of a fever from their teeth,,,until then I thought it wasn't true but other than a pesky bottom tooth I had nothing else to blame it on...it was weird....

That is EXACTLY what happend when my DD had her first ear infection. The fever appeared around 12:00 every day for 3 or 4 days. She seemed fine otherwise. Finally, we took her to emerge on the fourth day with a fever of 104. It was only then that we figured out it was an ear infection.
