    Question Lay away rules

So the TV we were going to purchase through SOs friend fell through and ours current one is busted.

So we decided we would go to wal mart, and put on on lay away while we are in the process of moving (which just makes things easier kwim)

But I think I remember someone saying you can't put anything on lay away that ends in .00? I was looking online, and it seems as though all of their TVs end in .00. Soooo can TVs just not be in lay away?

Not that its a huge deal, we would just rather pay for it as we are moving, instead of moving it twice.

Why not just buy it then when you move? Set aside the $'s you would put down on layaway and then buy it once you have moved. My understanding of layaway is that you don't get the item anyway until it is paid in full... Is there a good deal on now, or something?!?!

They have some flat panel TVs in stock for 500 dollars. And its limited quantity.

I know they keep it till its paid in full which is fine, because we would just do half this week, then do some more smaller payments till the day we move, and go pick it up.

We can just put the money aside and buy when we move, we'll just have to get a more expensive tv. Which is also okay.

When we tried to put a bike for DSS's birthday on layaway a couple months ago(we wanted to make sure we got that specific bike) they said they are not doing layaway anymore...too many problems with them not being able to store big items because there isn't enough room....this was at argyle.

Yes, this. TV's are always going on sale. We bought a 32“ Samsung for our bedroom @ $479 (reg $549) and 4 weeks later it was $399 on a one day sale. A quick price adjustment made a good deal a smokin' hot deal.

The Walmart in Woodstock doesn't do layaway anymore. I think the newer Walmarts are trying to shy away from it anymore. I saw a really great deal on a tv on the weekend and thought of you. If I find the deal, I'll pass it along here.

Hey m2m...you can still do layaways at the Hyde Park WM....if it ends in 00 it doesn't matter...as long as it is not on clearance..that can't be put on layaway....alot of our prices are “rounded“ now so that shouldn't matter...like I said, as long as it is not a clearance price...HTH...
