Default resume building

i plan on returning to work soon and need to update my resume. i was hoping to get some insight from you. i have been out of the workforce with my kids for the past four years. i'm looking to find something part time. what kind of things can i put on my resume for that 4 year span? what do employers want to see?

thanks for your help.

Employers respect honesty, so I don't think you need to make up anything to put on your resume.

Most employers are astute enough to know that if there is a gap on your resume it usually means that you've been at home with kids. I'd put a sentence in your cover letter stating that you have been a SAHM for the past 4 years, that you have been able to perfect your multi-tasking skills, organizational skills etc.

If you're in a profession, I'd also outline how you have been able to keep up to date with your profession since you have been off.
