    Default Ack. Halp.

I'm having an impromptu family party here tomorrow. We're planning on grilling. I know DH's grandma is bringing a salad and a pie, and his mother is bringing... something. I need to get the main course figured out, and a side, and a spectacular birthday cake. Not really worried about it being the coolest kid cake ever, just the most delicious.

OK, I was thinking of grilling pizza. Is this hard? Any tips? Or is it better to just do typical grilled meat? Do you know of something fabulous that I could pull off on the grill? Share! Right now! LOL!

    So, in review, I need:

    1) Awesome grilled main course idea
    2) Awesome side to accompany it
    3) Awesomely delicious cake recipe.

Also, someone needs to come over and clean my house.

Oooh! Do the Orzo! It's a great side especially for grilled main course.

Reduce the oil. Sub in whatever veggies you prefer.

Also - what about getting some cool sausages and stuff? Like Chorizo, brats, etc, then having some onions and mushrooms on the grill in tin foil (with butter of course)? Easy peasy.

I have never done pizza on the grill. It sounds complicated! LOL.

My friend once made corn on the grill after it had been basted in a sweet chili sauce - amazing!

Geo, here is the pizza grilling lesson I found. It sounds excellent. I really want to try! But I'm also scared, especially to try if for the first time with company watching.

Oh, that does look good. What about trying it out tonight when you have time? You and B can be the test judges. If it dosen't work out, do meat tomorrow.

    That pizza looks good!

If it doesnt work out, salmon and chicken are usually good too.

Also if you have a grilling basket, you can do a bunch of veggies in it on the BBQ - quite tasty. Just cook what you would put in a stir fry.

Salad - caesar is popular/easy and if youre looking for something different, then I am no help. LOL!

I'm going to make bruschetta and boneless chicken wings for appetizers. Then pizza on the grill (I'm crossing my fingers that I don't screw it up) for dinner. Got most of the recipes from a site Leslie posted awhile back -- Favorite Family Recipes

And then I'm going to make a Peanut Butter Fudge Cake for dessert, because I think it's the dear boy's favourite.

    Yay, plans are good.

I would grill chicken breasts and shrimp, then make fettucine alfredo and place in a bowl on the table when you're ready to eat. Let your guests choose from grilled chicken or shrimp with their fettucine.

Then make balsamic grilled vegetables: red/yellow/orange peppers, yellow and green zucchini, carrots, purple onions, mushrooms, sliced garlic, grape tomatoes etc etc.

A nice green salad would finish things off nicely

Can't help you with the cake since I always always buy mine. Love ice cream cakes from Dairy Queen

    Good luck. You'll be fine.

Cut up in large chunks veggies - onions, carrots, celery, cauliflower, brocoli, snap peas.... put a bit of water, a table spoon french salad dressing, and teaspoon tomatoe herb dressing and cook in a wok pan.... Its awesome....
