Default How to get the baby to 'drop'

Well my baby was in position last week but now it is 'floating' again. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how to get engaged and stay there, I am sure there are some old wives tales. I wouldn't be to concerned but the doctor thinks the baby is pushing 9lbs and I don't see how I am naturally going to be able to deliever a large baby. My first was 2 weeks early and weighed 7lbs13oz and I had a heck of a time with him.
    Thanks for any advice.

My children never "dropped". As long as it's still positioned head-down, you should be alright, and don't stress too much about sizes; seconds are usually easier (my first was 7 lbs 14 oz, and my second was 8 lbs 7oz and I'm stick-thin)

My kids never dropped either. But for good measure sit as much as you can with belly leaning forward and knees spread far apart (like backwards on a chair). It's good for opening the pelvis.

My kids never dropped either until I was pretty much in the middle of labour. I agree with doing the squats...that's how they got my DS to drop. And I too wouldn't worry about delivering a big baby. My first was a little 6lbs 4oz and then my 2nd was a bigger 8lbs 3oz and I found the 2nd to be easier!

My doula suggested that I try to sitting on a birthing ball whenever possible to keep my pelvis opened nice and wide to help guide the babe down.

    Default weight predictions

Don't worry about the weight predictions!! I was 11 days late with my first, so they did an ultrasound and estimated him at 10 pounds ++.....talk about having a heart attack! All it did was cause me a lot of stress and tears--and in the end, my son, Nolan ended up weighing 7 pounds 15 ounces!

Same thing happened with my friend; they predicted an 8+pounder and he was only 6 pounds.

wow i hate to burst bubbles or weigh in on the other side BUT

My first was 43 hrs, no pain, 3 pushes and out....7lbs 9oz
My second 25 hours, pain, shivers, baby went into distress, and C-section, 9lbs 7oz doc predicted 8lbs
    My third already feels heavier.
I think it will happen how ever it is going to happen.
