    Default Jury Duty

Yay me ( read with much sarcasm) been picked to report for jury selection to 80 Dundas. So is 80 Dundas the courthouse? Anyone been, how long are you there? can I get away with bringing a book? I'd hate to be bored all day.

Yea that's the courthouse. I've never been for jury duty but I would definitely bring a book, things there can be very slow...

I know more than one person that has been called and sometimes it goes very fast and other times it takes a half a day. I believe you can sit and read. Nobody I know has had to actually serve on a jury yet.

I was on the list all last year, was called to report twice and they cancelled both times (once the night before). very annoying if you've arranged daycare or taken the day off work.

I had to fill out a form last year for eligibility...I keep waiting to get my call too
Bring a book and I would splurge on a fun magazine too!

yep, bring a book and give yourself a few extra minutes for the lineup on the way in to get through security. Oh and clear your pockets and purse of any potentially embarrassing items. This is advice I wish I'd received before turning up for jury duty.

Bring a book. You will be there for jury selection, likely, and that can take a LONG time.

It's the courthouse, but you'll have to enter from the Queens Ave entrance as the Dundas St. entrance is closed (it's just on the other side of the building). You'll be searched and have to clear your pockets and have your purse checked too, so no nail clippers, etc. They also make you walk through a metal detector. There will likely be a lineup.

You can bring a book, but no drinks or food in the courtroom. You're also not allowed to chew gum or anything.

    Have fun.

Bring a book for sure and be aware that they will go through your purse and pockets. I was questioned once about a swiss army style nail file once so be sure not to bring anything that they may consider a weapon.

I've heard if you want to get out of it when its your turn you say you think you wouldn't be a good juror cause you've already made up your mind on the case.
