    Default Real Estate lawyer recommendations

I have already got one real estate lawyer recommendation. Just wondering if anyone else knew of someone that they loved and wasn't too expensive.

Hehehe yeah my own uncle except he's not in London He only charged us the things he had to. He was actually 'free' for us to use!

We used Robinson-Blokker for our first home. Jed Chinneck for the 2nd. Robinson-Blokker was cheaper & easier.

Gord Banting, he's been in practice for 25 years and has very reasonable fees (he's also my old boss!). Very nice guy, he's with Jeffery Associates (519-434-6881).

We recently went to Thomas Bates on Pinevalley to do our wills, and he was great. He also does real estate, and we will use him next time.

I used this guy due to somebody suggesting him to me.

    Litterick John M
    693 Hale Street
    London, Ontario

I had no issues with him... and he was great with all of the technicalities I had. Others I hear were not so lucky with the full on assistance, but my dealings were cheap and flawless.

What are the benchmarks for inexpensive and “easy“? What kind of range are we looking at, say for both buying and selling houses in the $200k neighbourhood??

I've been off work since April, but I think we usually charge $650.00 fee on the purchase and $550 on the sale plus disbursements, you should probably figure $1,200-$1,500 for fees and disbursements plus your land transfer tax (which, unless it recently changed, is .5% on the first $55,000.00, 1% from $55,000-$250,000.00 and 1.5% on anything over $250,000).

and a darn good one at that

the fees aidensmom quoted are the same he said (most are standard) except his fee is less than $650. but he's switching firms this week, so is a bit busy unless you aren't moving for a bit.

eta: sorry, here's what he said earlier:

he charges $595+GST for a purchase, plus $650 for dispersment fees (bunch of weird searches and stuff that I don't understand), plus $141 to register the deed and mortgage. You also would have to pay a land transfer tax which is .5% on the first $50k of the purchase price and 1% of the rest up to $250k.

For a sale it's $595+GST for legal fees, and another $200 in out of pocket dispersements.

He says he's mid-to-low range fee wise, some will charge more, some less.
