Default Is there more than one way to wash a cat?

Moe is a smelly bugger and I cant take it anymore.

I am planning on washing him in the tub with baby shampoo, which is how I have always washed my cats, but was curious if any of you had a tip, trick, or idea about cat washing?

(And I know one of you - at LEAST one of you *ahem MomtoTanis* is giggling perversely. No I didnt name my hoohaw Moe!)

thick work gloves, and more than one person... and still expect war wounds

I don't bathe my cat... ever. There's a foam flea shampoo, maybe there's a similar product for cleanliness.

LOL @ the reps all ready!
I dont make it a habit of washing them - naturally they can do it themselves, but he just stinks. I cant take it.

My friend recently gave me the tip that you should place an old window screen in the bottom of the tub. That way, the cat will grip the screen and save you some wounds. I would also wear oven mits.

Our cat recently rubbed on a sappy tree then rolled in the dirt. He is too fat to wash himself properly, so we are gearing up to bathe him too. Let me know how it turns out

One tip is to put a towel in the bottom of the sink or tub. They feel a lot more secure if they aren't slipping around. Have all the water you need drawn in containers before you bring the cat into the room. Running water is loud and scary. Wear denim, lots of denim.

    Well I may have to.
I washed him and found a spot near his bum that is all matted with poo. Its gross, and the source of the stink. Now I gotta round him up and see if I can fix that issue.

    UGH

Yep, take him to the groomers- think Petsmart in town here will do it, if not there is someone who specializes in this on my end of town.

Alright. I think he's gotten over the bath, so its time to traumatize him with scissors.
I'll let you know how it goes.
