    Default Blood in stool

Hi guys - My daughter was born Sept 4th ... yesterday I started to notice red blood in her stool. She seems to be pooping with each feed and it doesn't seem to be going away. I am going to take her to a walkin clinic today but was wondering if anyone else's lo had this.

Are you breastfeeding? If you are breastfeeding are your nipples bleeding? I didn't know that mine were until I tried to pump and was a bit shocked at the results... Apparently that could result in blood in stool (but didn't for my daughter). Good luck at the walk-in clinic, let us know how it goes.

    Red face Yes

Yes we experienced this alot wiht our one twin
he was 2 months old and the blood was consistant..very worriesome
it was one full diaper once..i gasped when i saw it. Even took a picture for the doctor
because i didnt think he was taking us seriously..he did when he saw the photo though.
    and we saw a specialist.
However, it didn't end up being anything serioius.
Some babies have this..but usually preemies like my guys
Try not to worry but definitely get someone to check her over
Better safe then sorry. Blood in the stool is not normal
that said it does happen and can be nothing.

Dr thinks there are two options. One being that she had a small anal tear that has mended itself, the second being that she is allergic to the formula we got at the hospital. My milk came in Friday so I stopped giving her suppliments. 24 hrs after the last bottle of formula she doesn't have any more blood in her stool. I guess we will just have to keep our eyes peeled incase it comes back.

    Thanks!

Watch what you eat as well... for example if the diapers get mucousy and have blood in them again - chart what you're eating - could be the milk... that's what I am dealing with right now... i have had to cut dairy out completely from my diet until i'm done nursing...
