Default Today I am going to be a guest speaker at the university of waterloo

I am honoured to have been asked to be a guest speaker. I am there to discuss the childhood sexual abuse that i have suffered and its impacts. I think the class is working on community justice. I am so super nervous.

I am also happy to share my story so that others can actually see what the long term effects are even if it is just a snapshot.

Lets just hope and pray for a no panic attack afternoon!

    Sounds awesome! You'll be great!
Stop thinking you’re not ready. – Nobody ever feels 100% ready when an opportunity arises. Because most great opportunities in life force us to grow beyond our comfort zones, which means we won’t feel totally comfortable at first.

I would not say strong woman. I would say that I refuse to feel shame for what happened to me....if there is no shame then I should be able to talk freely about it. It is still difficult but not my shame.

I really do hope everyone takes a little piece of my experience and makes some small change!

I believe you are a very strong person Dianne. I am very envious of that. It takes a lot of courage to stand up in front of that many people and talk about such a personal experience. I truly hope that you are able to make a difference by sharing your story.

I did it. It went better than expected! I am so super thrilled with myself. Public speaking is never easy but even worse given the topic. I was nervous but found that I had captivated the class. They had so many great questions and I was happy to answer them. The class instructor said I was articulate and real. I cried just a litle I always do. I am so proud of myself.

    Thanks for the encouragement!
