Default *SOB*SOB* Why is this so hard........

We sold our home and need to find a temporary home while our new house is being built.

I have called an add and was spoken to quite harshly by a realestate agent and then she hung up as it seems a 2 bedroom apartment is only suitable for one.

Are we seriously going to be homeless. We have no where to go in 6 weeks. I asked my DD who is 20 if we could stay with her and she said NO. Dh's family live too far away. We have no other options. Oh please tell me someone will breakdown and rent us a nice apartment for 6 months.

Can I help? What neighborhoods are you looking in? Are you willing to come over to the KW area?

Pfft on the mean real estate agent. You'll find a place. Ask your own real estate agent to help you out - they always know of places available. Check out kijiji.

Our agent said she would help us.

Eversoclever......thank you! I need to stay in Cambridge. We need to try our hardest to keep DS in the same school. The issue is I do not have a liscense. I was supposed to do a road test WAY back in August. My next date is January and they will be back to work by then. SO I need to stay close.

Does anyone have a really big box?

    Where are you looking?
I have a house in Windsor you could rent super duper cheap if that works.
But other than that I'd look at kijiji and then jsut drive around. Find buildings that have signs out with their # and call and ask .Explain your situation, that you only need a place for six months. If you're willing to pay more than first/last they'll wheel and deal. If you have a good reason, like a house being built or whatever, they may compromise.

We got best results from randomly calling buildings we liked, beccause most don't advertise since word of mouth is so reliable and often they have waitlists.

LOL! So you need a place with a short-term lease in Cambridge. How many bedrooms/price/pet policy?

Tell us what areas you are looking in and we can try to help you out. We lived in an apartment for 5 months while our house was being built and I found that when you called the ones that were rented out by a condo owner they were more sympathetic to our needs. I offered to pay for their new ad in the paper 5 months down the road and promised that the place would be clean and ready to show at a moments notice. We got a great place with an indoor pool and it was heaven being there over the winter! I think the kids were dissappointed to realize that our newly built home didn't come with an indoor pool! LOL!

Hopefully we can help you find something!

    I am looking in Cambridge.

    I will take a 2 bedroom but prefer a 3. We have a cat.

I finally have an appointment for tomorrow afternoon for a 3 bedroom. Found it on Kijiji. The area is nice. Cross your fingers.

We will take a drive around tomorrow for FOR RENT sigs in our area.

I really hope you find something. If your place isn't built on schedule you might need a place longer than that. It might be worth exploring a one year lease with a penalty to break it if the 5-6month one doesn't work out.

Yes we do realize that it may not be ready in the 6 month time frame. I assume though the builder does not wish to pay penalties so they will try to build on time.

We plan to keep up to date on the house progress so that we can extend a stay if needed.

DH also said if the house is late we will just go on a vacation.
