    Default Tailbone

Has anyone else broken their tailbone during birth? My OB confirmed that I broke it, and it's 4 months later and still not healed. He told me to come back at 6 months if nothing has improved. The pain is now radiating to my lower and mid back and the spasms are awful. I still can't sit on bottom, I have to shift the weight to one side at a time. All I want to know is how much longer before it heals?! Has anyone else been through this?

Oh no, that sounds awful I haven't had to deal with it, but I've sprained it and it took a LONG time to feel better.

I totally know how you feel.

My doctor told be that in order for it to fully heal you need to lay on your stomach for 3 weeks straight. Like that's gonna happen ...

I fractured my tailbone with my first baby, seven plus years ago. It took over a year before I felt “normal“ again.
It felt worse during following pregnancies (three after her).
I'm now 8 months post my fourth. I feel better since about 4 months post with my fourth than I did 1 year after my first.

I hope you feel better soon!

Here: tailbone someone else just went through this. I posted there as well. I don't think I broke mine, but it sure felt like it. My dr just felt it and said it was likely bruised. It took 9 months before I could sit straight on my bum (instead of leaning to one side or the other), so I can only imagine how long it would heal if it was broken. My sympathies!! It was so painful

Oh no mine hurt for a couple months after too... I imagine it is different for everybody. Maybe a google search on the subject might give you an estimate. I hope you heal soon!!!

I'm so sorry. I broke mine snowboarding 9 years ago and it really hurt. With time, it did get better. I tried massage and chiropractic care. I hope it feels better soon.

Thanks everyone for posting. I wish your answers were different, lol...but at least I can now mentally prepare myself for the long run of healing. I really hope it doesn't take a year poster lbg77!
