Default adhd recommendations

Hi,
We suspect our 5yr old son has adhd, as he's been having trouble for the last few years in preschool and now in SK, he seems to be the only one who doesn't consistently finish work, or get ready etc. I suspect I've also past on bad habits to him, as I was diagnosed with adhd years ago, however didn't want to go on medication and thought I could manage lifestyle changes on my own. However I now need to be a better example to my son also. We moved to London this year, does anyone have any recommendations of a Dr or support group for either adults or children. Thanks for any help!

I hope London posters will have a better idea about specific doctors and programs for your son.

We've found Dr. Hallowell's books to be very helpful. You can check out his website here: Dr Hallowell

you can ask your dr for a referal to a specialist but I would rush in to anything with him being so young some kids are just different and don't fit in to the mold school expects them too.
the program threw TVCC is Onward. good luck!

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 4, and knew my son had it from a very young age. We have seen Dr. Dubois on Richmond (or just off) twice now- this his who my family Dr referred us to. He seems nice. Our first appointment was 2 hours (he was already on meds for a few months from family Dr.).
The family Dr. sent the referrel, got papers/questionnaire that week, sent them back, and then had to wait 4 months for our first appointment. So if you are thinking about it, I would get the referrel right away and if you change your mind in the mean time you can cancel it.

His behaviour is so much better (not great tho) and his school work much neater (every other day lol) now that he is on meds.

I'm not sure about programs or groups in the area though.

Thank you so very much for all the feedback! I checked out Dr Hallowell's website also, and it's very helpful.
