Default I made a Mei Tei

After trying a Mei Tei at the babywearing meeting on Tuesday, I finally put aside an evening to do some sewing, and made myself one! Four hours, from start to finish. I checked out a few patterns on the internet, to give me some guidelines, but then I just made it up as I went along.

Now I just need to try it out.

Damn! My baby's asleep! Have to wait 'til morning

I'm having problems getting pics up, but here's a link to Zia's blog, where I've posted them.

Still lovin' wearing my new Mei-Tai Siana, still have to make my second, this setting up house thing is wearing me to a frazzle but I'm getting there, being meticulous so I don't have to keep re-arranging things. Doing it right the first time then delegating tasks. Once that's done and Vicky's in school, it'll just be me and my pipsqueaks so I'll finally have time to sew, then I can make my second!! I had fabric picked out, but if my DH is going to wear the second, I'll have to make it from Superman material.........Muah-ha-ha! I'll still make the one I had in mind so Vicky can wear one of her sisters. And I'm still not posting pics as I did say this baby is yours(Mei-Tai wise), but I love my Mei-Tai!

lol. Thanks, Mel. I've used it today, and it's been really good. It's not in the same league as the lovely ones Siana makes, but it works!

When Zia and I modelled it for David this evening, he said it made him think of The Sound of Music, where Maria makes clothes for all the kids out of drapes. Strange, because that's exactly what I originally got that material for!

Nice! All these handy people making Mei Tais!! I've thought about it.... I made a ring-sling, so that is an accomplishment

Siana, do you make them as a business?

Curtains... that's a great idea... sturdy fabric!

Wow, that mei tai is awesome and looks so comfortable... So 4hrs eh? DH keeps saying he wants to sew one, maybe I should encourage this venture.

I've discovered one problem with my Mei-Tei; everywhere I go with it, people keep wanting a demo. We went to the Well Baby Clinic yesterday, and the nurses wanted to see how I got Zia onto my back, then the OEYC workers wanted to see, too.

On the plus side, I'm becoming an expert, with all this practice!

I get the same thing when I use a wrap. Does everyone else get the same problem, with babywearing?

Yep. I've gotten business cards from Siana to hand out in such situations.

Great idea! Siana - if you give me some cards, I'll carry them for these occasions, too.
