    Default Donations for Epidurals

Has anyone heard what the Fall Fundraising Campaign for Shopper's Drug Mart is for? You guessed it, EPIDURALS!!! Donate a loonie to help 2 women get an epidural at STEGH - St. Thomas Elgin-General Hospital. (Not sure if London and Strathroy are collecting for the hospitals there - anyone know?)

What in the world is up with this? Have all the charities suddenly got all the funding they need that there's an opening to now shore up OHIP-covered pharmaceuticals?

Not only THAT but since when is there fundraising for an intervention that would be so much better avoided for the majority of women. I'm not saying epidurals don't have their place in the delivery room but I have a problem with donating to cover them while I pick up my prescription at the local drug store.

That money could have been spent sooo much better on the maternity ward. What about better training for bfing support for the nurses, or support bars for the beds that actually fit or, or, or....

I want to raise these points to STEGH and Shoppers (the other hospitals too if they have the same campaign). Anyone want to join me?

OK, now I want to go to Shopper's to take a picture and send it in to Fail Blog. I can't be the only person who thinks that's hilarious.

I was at the Shoppers at First/Elm in St. Thomas. The plaque just said “STEGH MATERNITY WARD“ it was the cashier who said to me (and the 3 people ahead of me) “Would you like to donate a dollar to go towards 2 epidurals at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital?“

The shocking part to me is EVERYONE ahead of me said YES!!!
