Default Does anyone have a sewing pattern for a bunny costume? UPDATE!!!

I was thinking of buying one but I thought I would ask here first. Does anyone have a sewing pattern for a bunny costume in size 5-6? I'd be happy to pay to mail it and return it to you in good condition....or buy it from you!

If anyone has tips on how to make bunny ears that stand up without always falling over....I'm all ears

PM- I'd be willing to help you out. Google free patterns, and you'll come across tons.

Ears are easy I just learned this the other day making Skye.S' little girls cow blanket with ears. I'd never done ears before, and winged it. (I frequently wing it with sewing. lol)

I know I have made one before but I will have to look tomorrow to see if I can find the pattern and what size I have.

I used a loop of wire from a clothes hangar inside the ears. They did flop over a bit after awhile but were still up.

    I believe this is the pattern I have:Butterick - B3238 - Children's/Girls'/Boys' Costume - 3238

You see I was thinking I could wing it too. Then I thought of how much less thinking I would have to do witha pattern. After seeing ducky's pattern I am thinking I should just wing it tho...thats pretty basic!

I've used the coat hangers but they never stayed up. My DD has demanded they remain upright (she has my quick temper and will rip them off and stomp on them if they don't LOL). I was thinking of extending the wires part way down the back of the costume...maybe?

Either way I have to get cracking cuz once i start packing there will be no turning back!

Ears are soo easy! The ears I made stay up, but are still floppy.. iykwim?

I sewed them on, then put a little stitch in the middle creating a dart. Worked perfect.

I love that idea Leigh! I have a new-to-me sewing machine that I am hoping works. I'll have to figure out how much fun fur to buy. Hmmm will I need a special foot for sewing fun fur?

no no, I don't use a special foot for fun fur LOL!

Okay, our appt is at 12, so afterwards, I'll stop by!

Have any and all materials you want to use on hand

And for the howmuch material- the rep I sent you- take the clothes I suggested you use for your pattern.. set them out, measure it- double it, then add a couple extra inches for good measure

I didn't use a special foot, maybe a ballpoint machine needle(for knits) instead of a sharp(for woven fabric) would be a good idea. Also, I remember using a pin to pull the front fur back to the front that got trapped in the seam.

The link to my pattern gives quantity of fabric needed for each size for a variety of fabric widths if you scroll down. Imperial is listed first followed by metric.

And here I just found my pattern after going through 3 boxes of patterns. LOL. There was still one box left.

Sounds great! I think your October is going to have enough projects to tackle.
