For sure that is possible. Special needs kids are special indeed and can do anything a normal child can do and sometimes better. Way to go to your LO.

I'm just so shocked I actually did it, DH had offered but I thought as the main caregiver I should try. (I've always been grossed out by the stoma - and still am but at least know I can do this!)

WTG barkingboys! My cousin would change her DD's NG tube all the time and I was always amazed because it made me so nervous just to watch her.

Thanks for the laugh! Wouldn't it be something for the Inquirer or something if it was an actual 5 toed foot?! It seems they grow so much...perhaps he was into a spurt and just came out of it. That's great he's learned to play guitar by ear. Good for him, bet it gives him more confidence too.

Amazing but true....Sophia WILLINGLY ate a couple of toast squares tonight and swallowed them! What is also amazing is that she needed no coaxing, there was butter on them (yay extra fat!) and she seemed to actually enjoy them! To top it all off, she didn't gag on any of her dinner! Hooray! It really is the small things in life eh?
The real kicker came when we found out this week that we are being discharged from the OT because she is eating well enough on her own now to sustain normal growth and development! HOORAY!!!! I'm thinking of throwing a party!.....WITH CAKE!

The other day Sophie finally gave us a kiss. It has been a really long time coming. She is not affectionate so hugs and kisses are extremely hard to come by.
She will be three this month and finally gave us her first kiss this month. I was so happy I wanted to cry and never let the moment pass.

Such great news! Keep up the good work Sophia. I bet the party with cake would be a good incentive for her to keep up eating (ah heck, it's always a good time for cake )! How exciting that she is being discharged by OT because she can eat enough to sustain herself!!

What a big step. That must have felt wonderful to have her be so affectionate. Here's hoping she lavishes affection on you much more frequently than she has in the past.

I hope I don't jinx this but DS went to the mall yesterday and did not have a melt down. He was laughing while cruzing in his new stroller. And the mall was very busy too. Way to go M, mama is proud of you.
