This day last year DS arrested while getting a picc line inserted (think IV in your upper arm that goes into the heart) yup. I remember it like it was yesterday Dr Benson one of Yale's cardiologist coming to see me after what was supposed to be a simple procedure. Telling me they are about to put him on ecmo, and that it really doesn't look good and Dr D is on the phone trying to see if there are any hearts.... Luckily after some mega strong meds and some great TLC from his nurse Mary Yale didn't require ecmo, and even became well enough to wait for his heart upstairs on the ward....

And look at us today.... he's currently playing in the recycling right now!!!!

exactly one month until his 1st Heart Day!

(oh and its DP's birthday today...he turns 30, I don't think it was a great day for him last year)

That is such great news that Yale is doing so well and had such a good outcome. How terrifying it all must have been a year ago. I bet in some ways it feels like it has been longer and others it seems like it is impossible a year has passed already! I bet your DP enjoyed this birthday all the more.

well I *think* I can finally post here (hopefully without it all backfiring in my face)
my youngest 'seems' to have turned a new leaf.. he cleaned his room today.. AFTER NOT making a huge mess this morning OR taking off... he said SURE MOM when I asked him to bring me the laundry baskets from downstairs.. Im trying to remain optimistic.. maybe he did just need a good kick in the butt from us.. hoping it continues! he's now off with his Dad and brother for some well earned 'mom time'..

M has yet done something great. Well, in his momas eyes anyway. Today he bent down far enough to pick up a cheerio he dropped on the floor. He has been working on bending to floor level for a very long time and YEAH!!!! He finally got the courage to do it. I am so proud of his hard work.

Last night was our weekly private speech therapy. We have only been going for two months now. Daegan did awesome!!!! The pathologist came right out and told me that she was very impressed at his efforts and sees no reason why he cannot have perfectly clear speech one day!!!!! It will be a very long, difficult road for him but he can do it!!!! I always knew this but this is the first time I had anyone else tell me... and it was a SLP

DS pointed to his diaper today. When I checked it, he had had a big poop!

He also used his communication book at school last week during the Christmas Assembly to say “I want toilet.“ They took him, and he went!

One teeny, tiny step closer to getting him out of diapers... after almost NINE years!

Yesterday my DD told my husband he had bad breath. She pointed to his mouth and said “It's stinky in There!“ That is one of the first clear 4 word sentences i've ever heard from her. It's just funny it was that one....lol
