I'm not a huge expert lol. I've heard good things about Hopp and Storch. Ellaroo has fringe on the end of all wraps which made them a no for me personally. Myrrah is probably a bit more of an expert on these. I've only ever had Didymos ones myself so far. Myrrah has had others. Some of these show up at babywearing meetings so you could always try there.
I've seen Anna Storch there, Leo storch, a Girasol.
Neobulle Simon is on my to buy list. I know absolutely nothing about the Vatanai ones.

I've had atleast one of almost everything and can honestly say the easiest to work with was a didymos stripes (Simon, Iris, Eva etc) They are thin enough to be easy to handle and supportive enough to work from newborn through to toddlerhood.
Hoppediz/Storchenweige are thicker, take longer to break in but are AWESOME for toddlers. I have one and it was like heaven when I wore Jake. I find buying a used one is much better and it is easier to wrap with as it has already been broken in. I had a Hopp brand new and while it wasn't awful, I think a used one would have been awesome.
Vatanai's are thin. Very thin. They are gorgeous and work very well during the summer months when using Hopp would be as appealing as having teeth pulled. I loved mine when he was littler, less fabric (as in its thin and not thick layers all over you).
They all have their place and I still have one of each lol.
Girasols are also thin-ish. I had one that was brand new and it was awful. I hated it, but thats just my preference. They are thin - thicker than a Vat but thinner than a Didy/Hopp/Storch IMO.
Ellaroo wraps are not very expensive and I think this is reflected in the quality/comfort of it. I had one and while it was comfortable for short periods when he was small...It became uncomfortable quickly.
Alot of wrapping is trial and error. You need to find what works for you...I know I am a tried and true Didy girl. I love them all (indio, waves, stripes etc). However I do have a variety of wraps just because they all do different things in my mind.
Hope that helps! If I had to suggest a wrap to a newbie wrapper...I would honestly suggest a Didymos, specifically a stripes. I found when I was learning, it was the easiest to use. However any Didy would work. I would say when you've got the hang of it...then move on and try other kinds.

I saw a young dad, probably about 18, wearing his newborn in a ring sling in Port Burwell on the long weekend. I was impressed 1) male 2) young!
I also saw an older dad wearing his baby in a ring sling that was waaaay too small for him in York, UK a few weeks ago. He was the only one I saw in the UK on our week-long trip! If I were in London (UK) I would never even think about using a stroller you can barely move on some streets and on the Tube - I can't believe baby wearing hasn't caught on more there (my husband and I had our 6 month old in a Mei Tai the entire time, so easy!).

I frikken hate strollers. I have 3, 2 umbrellas and a full sized one and I find they're all a pain in my ass, I've never used them! I love just throwing on my cuddly wrap or pouch sling and being ready to go.

Haha, strollers are good for malls - you need somewhere to put the bags

I finally saw one today crossing the road at Viscount and Andover. Wearing a baby and pushing a bigger kid in a stroller.

oh ya forgot about this thread...I've seen a few babywearers around in the last month whom I hadn't seen before.
I do remember seeing a mama with a green ringsling...was either a heavy material or slingified wrap, but definatley a quality one. Had a babe in the sling and a toddler next to her. That was at White Oaks some time ago though.
