Cool ha, Im going to look so funny.

Markus has a piggy bank that is a tall smarties tube. It comes up to about his armpit. Anyways its full to the top with everything a quarter and under. Well now that we can fit anymore money in it, he wants to take it and cash it. Its his money, and he gets to do what he wants with it.

Im assuming theres well over 40 dollars in it. So he has picked to go and see Ice age 3.

so heres where it gets interesting, I took an extra large zip loc baggy and filled it to the very top (hardly zips closed) and we are going to take it to that change counting machine at A&P so he can convert it into bills. LOL Im going to look so special with my huge ziploc baggy of change.

I just dont have coin rolls, or the time to roll them...so not looking forward to this.

Well thats what those machines are for hun! You won't look silly, people use them all the time for this exact reason! I wouldn't worry about it!

But good for him for saving all that change!!!

Hope you have fun, I don't think you will look that funny once people see you heading to the change machine.

Way to go Markus for saving up all that money, a very good lesson to learn early on.

I believe that the one at A&P charges something like 5 cents to every dollar or something along those lines. The last time I checked, the TD in Byron had one of those machines that didn't cost you anything to use, as long as you have an account with them. I don't know if it's still free, but it was when they first put it in.

this is his 3rd time cashing it in. And he knows he can use that money on whatever he wants. I wont say no, unless its something dangerous.

ETA: My SO is trying to tell me the coins do not have to be rolled to take them to a bank? I think hes wrong. Do any other banks have those change counters?

That's great! Have fun at the movies (and at least you aren't taking the bag of change to buy your tickets )

Now I thought you were going to let him take the tube to the movies, to pay for his ticket lol then you'd look funny and get glares.

I'd just call your regular branch and see, cos they all seem to differ. I've taken change to some banks and they weigh it or something. Others have to have it rolled, then they open it to make sure it's real etc.

There are coin machines at 2 TD banks that will count your coin for free when you drop it in yourself - I think Byron and Hyde Park have them. Way to go on saving the change! It is great that he gets to have a treat with his money!

well we did A&P. its only 9 cents per dollar, not too bad. He had 64 bucks.

We saw a movie, took a bus, and he had some dinner.

I took a big grocery bag in last year & double bagged it & when I got out of the car the bag burst all over the parking lot! That was embarassing!!! Now I know next time to use a container. We ended up having over $70 though
