    Default question re:CCTB

My oldest son will be 6 on October 1/09. Does that mean I stop receiving the CCTB $100/month payment for him that month or will I get it throughout his 6th year and it will end by the time he turns 7? and if it's at 7, will I receive the last payment in Oct/10? Thanks for your help!

If the age is 6 for the cut off then your last payment will be in October of this year. Still hoping that's wrong though. WHO came up with the idea that children's expenses lessened at age 6/7?? I'd like someone to come along and see what it costs me to clothe V when she needs to be dressed *nicely*. Fair exchange IMO, no diaper expenses or daycare = cost of more food and higher priced clothing.

I think it was brought out to help with childcare. I guess they figure that once they are in school full time you dont need as much.

I agree it's ridiculous whether it's age 6 or 7 FA. It isn't like ppl top needing things (ie: clothes, care, other items) for their children when they turn 6 or 7. My Dh may work for a fed gov't agency but he doesn't like the way the gov't does a lot of things, this being one of them!

Yep, I think you're right. Even Before and afterschool care costs can add up even past the age of 6 though. Wish the gov't would see it that way.

All these CCTB threads today got me to actually, you know, do my 2008 taxes. So I have you all to thank for the fact I will get baby bonus next month. Thank you.

ucb = universal childcare benefit, no? That is the $100/month one. That is the one that ends at 6. The big one ends at 18 I believe, yeah.

Okay Ivveyy put up a good poser, now I know the CCTB is lowered at age 7 cuz I've lived through THAT once already, just not the UCCB. That one may be cut at age 6, not sure.

So if I get the UCCB correctly, then the cut off is age 6 on your birth month and you are rerated at age 7 for the CCTB. Why the heck is it at 2 different ages?!?!?!?! Way to confuse the public.

The Canada Child Tax benefit(formerly baby bonus) goes until your birth month of your 18th year. The Universal Child Care benefit is newer and is paid to everyone at $100/month until EITHER age 6 or 7 again till birth month of proper age.

i dont think the CCTB changes untill they are 18..when you do the online calculator it doenst even ask for age..jsut how many children under the age of 18.

UCCB does stop at 6 becuse its suppose to be for childcare expenses (like its remotly enough) and at 6 kids are usally in school full time.
