    Default LondonMom needs some Help

I haven't posted here in a long time and I guess I'm just hoping that someone knows somebody but my family is in a very urgent situation. It is a very long story but coming to a very abrupt end May 25th. My common-law husband of 7 years, and father of my two children is being removed from Canada. He is not a criminal, he just overstayed his original visa years ago. After an unsuccessful permanent resident application and a second one in progress right now the CBSA has decided his time is up. I have contacted various child advocacy groups, my MP, the local media, have letter and e-mail writing campaigns, but still nothing. CBSA argues that the removal of one parent won't cause any hardship to my family. hah. I don't even know how we are going to start explain this to our children. I am working with an immigration consultant who is helping put together an argument for a deferral, but as of right now I don't have a good feeling about it. The Citizenship and Immigration Minister has the power to stop this but I think it's all about getting noticed and as of now the media has not responded to me. I'm trying anything, so if anyone here has any pull in the media, the CBSA, or the CIC my family would really appreciate it.

I have started a facebook group, Don't Let the CBSA Deport Gilson Dos Santos!!! which explains the situation and contains a petition. Thanks for listening.

    That's so sad
Is there any way you guys can go with him, start life anew where he's going? Maybe their immigration laws would be more lax or something?
I hope you can find a loophole to stay together somehow.

Kaleb's Mom, maybe you could copy and paste what you have in the Facebook group description here for those who don't have Facebook? Or someone else could do that, if it's OK with you? (I figure it is since you linked it. LOL)

GILSON DOS SANTOS WILL BE DEPORTED FROM CANADA BY MAY 25TH 2009.
Gilson Teixeira Dos Santos came to Canada Octobor 6 1998. He has three Canadian children,no criminal record, and is not a burden to the Canada's health or social system. Gilson Dos Santos submitted al Humanitarian and compassionate application for Permanent residence on April 16, 2006. This application was ultimately denied more than 2 years later. The result of an in-competent lawyer and nothing based on Gilson as an applicant.(A professional conduct investigation is ongoing with the Upper Canada Law Society) A second application was submitted and before it could be fairly processed the Canadian Border Service Agency has chosen Gilson for removal from Canada that will be carried out by May 25th. I ask for everyone's help in asking the Public Safety Minister, The Hounarable Peter Van Loan, or The Citizenship and Immigration Minister, The Hounarable Jason Kenney that Gilson Dos Santos's removal order be deferred until his application for Permanent Residence has been fairly processed! This is cruel and unnecessary treatment to him and his family.

I think you should really try to get married, even if its just at city hall.. I think that might help get him to stay.

ETA: Also, I'm SO sorry to hear about your situation. I hope, for your family's sake, that he is able to stay. Good luck with everything.
