Default How can I store my Breast milk?

Can I just put it in a bottle and heat it in my microwave later?
    How long does it keep?
When is the best time to pump?

I was told never heat breast milk in a microwave. It breaks down too much and could contain hot spots that could burn baby. I run it under hot water until it's the right temp.

I pump in the morning...I tend to get more. I keep it in the fridge for about 3 days, and in the deep freeze for up to about 6 months. I use the gerber storage bags with the zip seal. I freeze 6 oz in those and also use covered ice cube trays. Each cube is 1/2 oz., in case I'm not home and didn't prepare a bottle, DH can do a couple of ounces.

Do not microwave - it will kill all the good stuff in there! Warm up using warm water.

Keep in the fridge, or freezer if you want to keep it for longer than 2-3 days.

I use the platex drop ins (you can buy the kit with the rings for the fridge/freezer). I store it in the back of the fridge for 3 weeks or the back of the freezer for 3 months.

Do not microwave, just put it in a cup of warm water and then swirl it to mix it back together, don't shake it.

    forgot to add this:
Some moms find pumping is easier if baby is nursing on one side at the same time. You also may have better pumping results in the morning hours when milk supply is greatest. A lot of moms pump about an hour or so after baby's first morning feeding. Should your baby want to nurse soon after pumping do not be afraid to put him to the breast. There will still be plenty of milk for him as he actually causes you to produce more milk as he nurses!

Strange, can't remember where I got the guidelines, but I've used them with both my kids and never had a problem.

Maybe thats it? I remember the 24 hour on the counter, 3 months in the back of the freezer, 6 months in a deep freeze. Never stored much in the fridge anyway, always put it in the freezer unless it was for that night.
