Default What sippy worked for your LO?

We've been weaning our DS (16 months) off bottles for a couple months now, but find that he's not getting enough fluids through the day when using a sippy. We have tried 8 types of sippy cups hoping to find one that he'll like enough to really drink substantially from, but no luck. Everyone tells us that if he's thirsty enough, he'll drink from a sippy, but that's not the case with our DS. If he doesn't click with the sippy, he just doesn't drink until his bottle at bedtime.

Did any of you have trouble finding the right sippy for your LO? What type did you find worked for you?

DD won't use a sippy, she just dosen't get it! She is almost 17 months. There's a sippy ( I got at RCSS and I know they sell them at Wal Mart) that has a nipple shape and thats helping DD to understand (it's familiar so it works). You could try that

This is the one DD uses: Nuby Flip-It Sport Sipper Straw Sippy Cup

Sippy Cup - Nuby Flip-It Sport Sipper Straw Sippy Cup

She's been able to drink out of it since about 7 months, caught on to the straw right away.

The straw sippy cups worked for us but then we made the mistake of buying other sippy cups. DS couldn't understand that if there was a straw he couldn't tip it up and get water. We got rid of all the straw ones because he couldn't get the hang of switching between a straw cup and a regular sippy cup.

um, my daughter drinks straight from the bottle, or from a regular glass. don't ask me why, but she hates sippy cups.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We've tried all of the above and his preference is definitely a sippy with a straw, but lately he'll just take a sip then run off to play. We'll just stick with it - somethings got to work...eventually

We use the "disposible" sippy cups for DD. She loves them, and she has no problem with them. For DS we use the straw cups, but I found that the nuby ones, he bit through the straw WAY too easily. He likes to chew on the straw while drinking (does anyone know how to stop him from doing that?) and we've gone through quite a few cups because they don't sell the straws in Canada. We ended up buying the Munchkin versions, with Dora and Diego on the cups. A lot more expensive, but the straw is a lot stronger.

My dd had every sippy known to man lol This is the only one she'd drink from.

She actually couldn't suck from any of the others. And still can't use a sippy type lide now at almost 28 months. Eventually she liked the straw cups. Thankfully!

We tried those too with DS and they worked great. But once again, our problem was that he bit through them! Drove us crazy that they didn't sell replacement parts!

My DS started with the Nuby soft top sippy cups.
Now he loves all and any sippy cups.

My son is a 'straw boy' too. Although he likes his Kleen Kanteen with the Avent toddler spout. He is a tad lazy and 'wants me' to tip it up for him
